What a wonderful, tantalizing idea!
“A wild person with a calm mind can make anything,” writes Maisel. “A hushed, wild person is a god, a marvelous actor, a marvelous cellist, a marvelous writer, a marvelous sculptor. Creators are hushed wild people.”
Dr. Eric Maisel on painting naked in his book, Fearless Creating
Have you ever seen your own fears and watched how your body reacts? Try painting or writing naked and you will experience this fully. This act also gives you the opportunity to push past your fear and get fully out of your comfort zone. Nakedness can free you up to ‘the wildness’ – inside, the aliveness that manifests with purpose and calmness.
Every time we change things up and do something completely different, or out of the norm our creativity loves it. It sets it on fire and helps move us out of feeling stuck and undernourished. Neurons begin opening new pathways and light bulbs light up.
“The wildness has many faces. It is an amalgam of passion, vitality, rebelliousness, nonconformity, freedom from inhibitions. Think of this wildness as “working naked.”
Dr. Eric Maisel
Fearless Creating was one of the first books that I read by Dr. Eric Maisel, on my own painting journey. It was the book that inspired me to begin taking creativity coaching. This book is one that will teach you to push your own boundaries and get out of your own way.
And yes, I did try it. It was an amazing experience.
